§ 01Available categories

Every category we supply in Grade B.

ReferenceHow we grade
  1. Primary sorting

Collected stock (credential: as it comes out of banks and shops) is opened and separated into broad streams: clothing, shoes, bags and accessories, household textiles, and non-textile contamination removed.

  2. Grade A, B and C

Each stream is graded on condition, style and brand into Grade A (cream / premium), Grade B (standard commercial) and Grade C (utility / low grade). Grade definitions are written into every Ragtrail contract, because the words alone mean different things to different sellers.

  3. Tertiary sorting

Graded stock is sorted again by category (garment type, gender, age), by season (summer, winter, mixed) and by fabric, so a buyer can order exactly what their market sells: for example Grade A men's winter jackets, or Grade B children's summer mix.

  4. Non-rewearable processing

Items that cannot be worn again are not mixed into wearable bales. Cotton-rich textiles are cut into wiping rags; the rest goes to fibre recycling (shoddy, insulation, felt). Footwear that cannot be paired or repaired is processed separately.
